-- DAY 7: And the 7th Day They Rested --

Power is still on and today is a rest day (finally) so in this house we declared today to be Sunday. ... take it easy... what day it really is I have no idea. Today is Wednesday in the outside world. All St. Lawrence County schools are closed for at least this week. (that will be 2 weeks off after the Christmas vacation ended).

The only calls on the phone now are local. We seem to be cut off from outside phone lines. But it is handy to have local calls.

Some insurance companies are offering compensation to their customers who buy generators to keep their pipes from freezing. Supplies have started to move in to the main towns.

Forecast 15 below zero for tonight... radio warning people to go to shelters. Many people do not want to go to shelters because you can not bring your pets there and must leave them in a cold house, so a local kennel with power restored is offering to take pets for free for people going to shelters to help encourage people (especially older people) to get to warmth.

The sun is out and I am just catching up on the last 2 days of entries into this account. time for lunch.

And on the 7th day they rested .........
